Connect your assistant
Checked against each assistant’s own help pages on 2 October 2026.
What a connector is
A connector lets an AI assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, use another service for you. You add it once. After that, when you ask your assistant for something that service can do, the assistant does it there.
Stepladder’s connector lets your assistant put a plan with steps and waits on your phone. Ask it for a recipe, a routine or anything with timing in it, and the Stepladder app shows you the step you are on and rings an alarm when a wait is over.
You need the Stepladder app on your phone, signed in. When your assistant asks you to sign in to Stepladder, use the same Apple or Google account as the app; that is how it knows which phone is yours.
Stepladder’s connector address is:
https://stepladderapp.com/mcp
Claude
Any plan, the free one included (it allows one connector you add yourself). Add it on the web or in the desktop app; it then shows up in the Claude app on your phone too.
The button opens Claude with the Add custom connector box already filled in:
- Sign in to Claude if it asks.
- Check the box says Stepladder and
https://stepladderapp.com/mcp. Claude shows a red note that the connector came from a link; that is expected, and the two lines are what it asks you to check. - Tap Continue, and Add if it asks again.
- Stepladder’s sign-in opens. Sign in with the same Apple or Google account as the app, and allow it.
Or add it by hand
- Open claude.ai or the Claude desktop app.
- Go to Customize → Connectors. (Older versions call it Settings → Connectors.)
- Tap + Add, then Add custom connector.
- Name:
Stepladder. URL:https://stepladderapp.com/mcp. - Tap Continue, then Add, and sign in as above.
Then try: “Make me a workflow: make tea, then wait 4 minutes.”
If Claude does not use Stepladder, open the + menu in the chat, choose Connectors, and check Stepladder is switched on.
ChatGPT
Not yet tested with Stepladder.
Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans, on the web at chatgpt.com. Not on the free plan. ChatGPT calls a connector you add yourself a developer mode app, and warns that it is meant for developers.
- On chatgpt.com, open Settings → Security and login and turn on Developer mode. (On a Business or Enterprise plan an admin may have to allow it first.)
- Go to chatgpt.com/plugins and tap the + button to create an app.
- Name:
Stepladder. MCP server URL:https://stepladderapp.com/mcp. Authentication: OAuth. - Create it, and sign in to Stepladder with the same Apple or Google account as the app.
- In a new chat, open the + menu, choose Developer mode, and select Stepladder.
Then try: “Use Stepladder to make me a workflow: make tea, then wait 4 minutes.”
Gemini
Not yet tested with Stepladder.
Custom apps work only in Gemini Spark, on paid tiers, with a personal Google account (not a work or school one), for people 18 or over in the US, in English, with Keep Activity on. You add it on the web; it then works in the Gemini app on your phone too.
- On a computer, open gemini.google.com.
- Open Settings & help → Connected Apps.
- Under Custom apps for Spark, tap Add a custom app.
- Enter
https://stepladderapp.com/mcp, tap Next, and follow the prompts. - Sign in to Stepladder with the same Apple or Google account as the app.
Then try, in Spark: “@Stepladder make me a workflow: make tea, then wait 4 minutes.”
Grok
Not yet tested with Stepladder.
Paid plans only. On Grok Business and Enterprise, an admin has to add the connector for the team first.
- Go to grok.com/connectors.
- Tap New Connector, then Custom.
- Enter
https://stepladderapp.com/mcp. - Sign in to Stepladder with the same Apple or Google account as the app.
Then try: “Use Stepladder to make me a workflow: make tea, then wait 4 minutes.”
Taking it back
Remove the connector in your assistant’s settings, or open Agents in the Stepladder app and tap Revoke. Either ends its access at once.
